Experiencing bioluminescent plankton in Phang Nga Bay (just north of Phuket and east of Phang Nga province) is widely considered one of the most magical nighttime adventures in Thailand. The phenomenon is driven by dinoflagellates—microscopic marine organisms that drift in the water. When they are mechanically disturbed (by movement, a paddle stroke, a swimming hand, or even passing fish), they undergo a chemical reaction that releases a bright neon blue-green light.

Panak Island has caves that open into secret lagoons inside the island. During low tide, kayaks can pass through narrow cave tunnels and suddenly enter a quiet green lagoon surrounded by tall limestone cliffs.

James Bond Island is one of the most famous landmarks in Phang Nga Bay. The island became world-famous after appearing in the The Man with the Golden Gun (1974), a film in the James Bond series starring Roger Moore.
The real Thai name of the island is Khao Phing Kan, and the iconic limestone rock standing in the water nearby is called Ko Tapu.
